Your God-Given Rights As A Citizen Of Heaven

Your God-Given Rights As A Citizen And Child Of The Kingdom Of Heaven

When I was a new Christian, for some time people kept telling me that I had no rights, and that I had to give up all my rights to God, and just obey Him in all things without question. For me, this was such a poor and dis-empowering view of what it means to be a child of God.

Now I understand that we should surrender our “rights” to do things outside of His will through our free choice, and then choose to do His will instead. That part’s pretty simple. But the part that I did not understand at that time was how many GOD-given rights and privileges we have as sons and daughters of God because of what Jesus did for us on the cross!

You see when Jesus died on the cross He paid for all of our sins, and the sin nature, to be washed away, destroyed, and gone forever! He also paid for us to have the Righteousness of His nature living inside of us, for us to be blessed with all things in Christ, to have free access to the Kingdom of Heaven now, and so much more!

As a citizen of the United States there are many rights and privileges that I have that help protect me, give me freedom and enable me to do things that I would not be able to do without these rights.

As a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven, I have WAY more rights, benefits and privileges as a son of the Almighty God who created and owns all things. Praise God!

So I wanted to make a short list of just SOME of the many glorious, awesome, and amazing rights and blessings we have as children of God in hopes that more Christians would know and understand their rights better, so they can actually take advantage of the rights we have been freely given in Christ:

1. You have the right to live forever!

1 John 5:11-13 “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

God has given us eternal life, and the moment we accept Christ, we begin to live forever. You cannot die (though your body will pass away) because you are now filled with the eternal life of Christ.

2. You have a right to live in the overwhelming abundance of the fullness of Christ’s life inside of you.

Col. 2:9-10 NIV “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.”

You have been given fullness in Christ (past tense, meaning it already happened) and now have unlimited access to the fullness of Christ’s life that is inside of you!

3. You have a right to be free from all condemnation, shame, guilt, judgment and Deny Yourself pick up your crosspunishment.

Rom. 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

Jesus bore all guilt, shame, condemnation, and all the consequences of our sins and wrong-doings on the cross so that we would not have to be responsible for them. He took responsibility for our sins, and took our punishment and consequences for us, so we could walk free from those things at all times in Him. (And as long as we remain in Him that continues)

4. You have the right to be free from sin.

Rom. 6:5-7 “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.”

Jesus destroyed the old nature of sin on the cross, and gave us a new nature, which is His righteous nature. Sin no longer has any power over us unless we choose to allow it to, because “He who has died has been freed from sin” and we died with Christ on that cross, freeing us from the power of sin! God didn’t just wash away your sins, He completely destroyed the old sin nature that we used to have, so we could be set free from it now.

5. You have the right to live in the righteousness of God at all times.

2 Cor. 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Jesus became sin, and destroyed all sin at the cross, so that we could become the very righteousness of God in Him! Righteousness means to think rightly, speak rightly, desire righteous things, do righteous actions and much more.

SO when it says we are the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD that means a LOT MORE than just being forgiven! It means that we have His righteous nature, mind and heart abiding in us at all times and can begin to live in His righteous thoughts and ways at all times. Praise God!

6. You have the right to be blessed with and walk in every spiritual blessing possible!

Eph. 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”

Now you cannot get any more blessed than EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING that is found in Christ! That means that we are blessed beyond belief, have more than we could ever ask for, and are capable of doing more than we have ever imagined through the power and Blessings of the Spirit of God. :)

((((Can I get a HALUELUIAH??!!))))

7. We have the right to destroy the devil’s works and to exercise dominion against the Jesus healspower of darkness.

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Jesus gave us authority over ALL the power of the enemy. So much so, that He says if we truly believe and walk in that authority NOTHING shall by any means hurt you. That is incredible and just goes to show how much more we need to understand our God-given rights so we stop allowing things to happen that should not be happening.

Jesus walked the earth for over 30 years without so much as stubbing a toe (Psalms 91:11-12) because He lived in the promises of the protection of God. And we can walk in divine protection as well if we understand God’s Kingdom like He did.

8. You have the right to be healed of all sickness and disease (and be healed in your soul of wounds and hurts as well).

Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

He bore all our sickness, pain, death, sorrows and diseases on the cross so that we could be set free from them. Often times we must choose to believe in the power of the cross and the rights we have as His children in order to walk in the manifestations of these things. (Though I have seen plenty of people who didn’t necessarily believe get healed by God, because someone else who prayed for them believed for them to be healed) We have a right to the healing power of God to be manifested in our lives, and we need to be exercising that right through faith in Christ.

9. You have the right to experience God at all times and in endless ways.

John 3:34 “For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.”

1 Cor. 6:17 “For He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”

God has given us an unlimited amount of Himself in Christ, and made us one spirit with Him. Notice how it does not say “one in Spirit”, it says “one spirit”, meaning His Spirit and our spirit have become one together! There is ZERO separation between you and the life of God because He has made us one life with Himself and one spirit with Him.Therefore if we are ever not experiencing God, it is because our soul is choosing not to abide in Him, or because we aren’t receiving what we have already been given because of poor belief systems.

The more we understand who we are as children of God, and what God has freely given to us already, the more we will continually experience God in ever increasing measures and infinitely new ways!!! (which also means there is a WHOLE LOT MORE that we have yet to experience in God and should never limit Him to our current or past levels of experience)

 10. You have the right to bring Heaven to earth and change the world!King Jesus 1

Matt. 16:19 “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

Jesus has given us the keys to access the entirety of His Kingdom right now! We have access to this Kingdom now, so that we can experience His Kingdom now, and release it to those around us now. If this world is not looking like Heaven, it’s because the people of God are not using their God given rights to access God’s Kingdom, and partnering with Him to release it into the earth. We NEED to stop putting off our responsibility on God, and “waiting for the Lord’s return” like a bunch of powerless Christian pansies who don’t know who they are, and start doing what Jesus commanded us to.

He said “Most assuredly” that anyone who believes in Him will do the same works He did and greater. That means every believer should be healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, showing compassion to the poor, and revealing the revelations of the nature of God and the Gospel to the nations. These are the works of Jesus (and much more) and should be the works of every Christian believer who walks with Jesus.

Now I know we may fall short, and we are ever learning how to walk with the Lord, but when we expect/believe for these things to happen and continue to seek God to know Him and release His Kingdom, these things will happen. And if they don’t happen, it’s because we either didn’t choose to believe it was possible/normal for us to do so, or because we simply need to learn more about how to release God’s Kingdom in order for it to happen.

Choosing to explain it all away because you try something a few times and it doesn’t work is not acceptable, and is bringing God down to your level. We must learn to allow God to change our experiences, not allow our experiences to “change our God.”

YOU were born to change the world! YOU were born to walk like Jesus! YOU were born to be one with Jesus, and experience the fullness of His Life, blessings and eternally righteous glory at all times! Believe it, receive and start taking more steps to release it!

Now these are just a few of the many, many, many rights and privileges we have as sons and daughters of the Most High God, but I hope that it at least helps to shed some light of revelation into the reality that we have been given so much more than we are yet even making good use of compared to what we could be. The devil does not care about your rights unless you know them. So know your rights and exercise them so that you can release God’s Kingdom and destroy the works of the devil!

God bless you all!
